Gauden Bat is an adult Basque dance group based in Southern California, dedicated to preserving Basque culture and fostering lifelong friendships among young Basques. Since its founding in 1932, the group has played a key role in maintaining cultural awareness within the community.
The name Gauden Bat, meaning “Let us be one,” was adopted in 1969, reflecting the group’s spirit of unity and connection. The group consists of about twenty young adults who perform traditional dances from various regions of the Basque Country. They regularly showcase their talents at local Basque picnics and other events when invited.
Open to dancers starting at 13 years old, Gauden Bat continues to be a vibrant link to Basque heritage through its diverse and evolving repertoire.
