HeadlinesJaialdi 2005 is under way!July 27-31, 2005, in Boise, Idaho, USA!Euzkaldunak, Boise's Basque Organization, invites everyone to celebrate the Basque culture's festival spirit. Jaialdi (meaning "Big Festival") takes place only every five years. Share in the fun customs characteristic of the Basque people. Lively music, quick-footed dancing, spirited handball exhibitions and strength lifting, flavorful foods, along with presentation on Basque history. Schedule highlightsWednesday July 27, 2005History and Cultural Seminar The presentation is about the Basque Country, now and in the future, as well as the Basques in America, now and in the future. At the Egyptian Theater Thursday July 28, 2005Sports Night will be a night of traditional Basque sporting events to include weightlifting, wood chopping, farm sports and relays. This will be held at the local fairgrounds. Tickets may be purchased at the door. |
